HALLE BERRY DISCUSSES DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

With the news of Halle Berry's third divorce
breaking, the actress sat down with Extra to reveal
that focusing on charity work is helping to keep her
mind at ease.
"I keep pushing, she said. "When you step outside
yourself and focus on others, that's always the best
remedy for any situation that you'd rather not be
dealing with," she said.

Berry was in Los Angeles attending a benefit for the
Jenese Center, a national domestic violence
intervention and prevention organization, a matter
that is all too familiar to her. The Academy Award-
winning actress has openly admitted to growing up
in an environment of domestic violence and, later in
life, being a victim herself.
While her exes, former baseball player David Justice
and R&B singer Eric Benet have recently been on
Twitter airing their dirty laundry since news of the
Berry's latest divorce, she isn't dwelling on their
pettiness.
"Women are so often devalued and marginalized
and minimized," she confessed. "We grow up with
that belief of ourselves. So when we find ourselves
in an abusive relationship, we don't think we're
worthy to be out of it. We don't think we deserve
better," Berry confessed.
But she reiterated a common notion to help women
who are in need of the strength to find a way out of
these relationships.
"If a man, or anyone, lays their hands on you one
time, they will do it again. You have to go, you have
to love yourself enough and your kids enough to
go."
