HIGHER GROWTH RATE WILL SHAPE DECISION AS MPC MEETS TOMORROW

national Bureau of Statistics
As members of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Monetary Policy
Committee converge on Abuja for the final edition of the
committee meeting for the year, there seems to be a consensus
among financial market analysts that the current regime of
higher growth rate and low inflation will be a game changer at
the meeting, reports Festus Akanbi
At last data suggesting that the Nigerian economy might
have begun to pick up have started to trickle into the market
through the office of the National Bureau of Statistics
(NBS).
For the first time this year, while the inflation figure has
started coming down, the GDP is showing some signs of
improvement.
It is a relief to the nation’s economy managers and
watchers considering the fact that Nigeria, like other oil
dependent nations have been battling with devastating
effects of the unabated plunge in the price of crude oil for
over a year. A barrel was sold for $43.66 as at the
weekend whereas the same quantity attracted $111 in
2014. Nigeria’s case was even made grimmer by a
combination of declined output and economic sabotage that
hallmarked the previous administration.
For a country, which had been experiencing arithmetical
progression in inflation figure since the beginning of the
year, last week’s announcement of a marginal decline in the
figure of the month of October, put at 9.3 per cent as
against last month’s figure of 9.4 per cent could be a
source of inspiration that better days are here.
Although the current threshold is still above the Central
Bank of Nigeria’s target upper limit of 9 per cent, the initial
reaction of economic experts was that the current figure is a
sign of good things to come.
Declining Inflation
According to the NBS, the Composite Price Index (CPI)
report, which measures the prices of goods and services
indicated that the Headline index decreased slightly as a
result of lower increases in most divisions, which contribute
to the index with the exceptions being Transport, Recreation
and Culture divisions.
The Bureau reported further that food prices also edged
lower in the month under review, with the Food sub-index
increasing by 10.1 per cent from 10.2 per cent recorded in
September.

NICKI MINAJ under Fire over Controversial Video

Minaj is getting a lot of backlash after featuring Nazi-
like imagery in the lyric video for her latest single "Only ."
The Anti-Defamation League released a statement speaking
out against the video, in which the 31-year-old rapper plays
a military dictator leading an army of soldier wearing red
armbands. Read it below (via Billboard ):
"Nicki Minaj's new video disturbingly evokes Third Reich
propaganda and constitutes a new low for pop culture’s
exploitation of Nazi symbolism. The irony should be lost on
no one that this video debuted on the 76th anniversary of
Kristallnacht, the "night of broken glass" pogrom that
signaled the beginning of the Final Solution and the
Holocaust.
It is troubling that no one among Minaj's group of
producers, publicists and managers raised a red flag about
the use of such imagery before ushering the video into
public release.
This video is insensitive to Holocaust survivors and a
trivialization of the history of that era. The abuse of Nazi
imagery is deeply disturbing and offensive to Jews and all
those who can recall the sacrifices Americans and many
others had to make as a result of Hitler's Nazi juggernaut."
WHAT DO YOU THINK of Nicki Minaj's lyric video for

Reasons why Kendall Jenner's sisters weren't at the Victoria Fashion Show Debut

Kendall, who made her Victoria’s Secret debut , said that having her entire famous family at
the show would have been too much for her to
handle.
“I told them all to stay away. It was too much
pressure and I was like, ’Mom and Dad are good
enough,'” she told the New York Daily News
backstage . “I just need the pressure off. There’s
enough pressure as it is.”
Both of her parents showed up and sat front row to
cheer on their supermodel daughter, and Kendall
still wound up with all eyes on her. Plus, Kylie’s
boyfriend Tyga showed up later on the red carpet,
so it’s almost like she was there in spirit.

Sorry,
fam, maybe next time?

DISCLOSURE WELCOMED Lorde and Sam Smith for 'SNL'

Disclosure turned the “ Saturday Night Live ” studio
into an electric, colorful stage for their two
performances off of their latest album , Caracal ,
during last night’s episode hosted by Elizabeth
Banks . The evening kicked off with a performance
of “ Omen ,” where Sam Smith joined the duo (as
well as a strong backing band and vocalists). Sam
glided smoothly across the stage, looking sleek in a
fitted-black suit, while bright, multicolored lights
framed the stage, looking more like a night club
than SNL’s normal studio setting.
Later, Lorde joined the duo on stage for a slinky
performance of their single, “ Magnets .” For the
performance, the group dialed back their normal
heavy synths, giving the performance a more
organic feel for the live setting.

premier University of Ibadan (UI) out of 2,362
graduands in Ibadan, the acting Vice-Chancellor of the
university, Prof. Emilolorun Ayelari disclosed this at the
67th Foundation Day and Convocation 2015.
Faculties of Arts, Science, Clinical Science and Public
Health produced the first class graduates.
A break down by the acting Prof. Emilolorun Ayelari,
shows that fourteen of the 53 first class graduates were
of the Faculty of Arts, 32 from Faculty of Science, one
each from Clinical Science, Public Health, Distance
Learning and four from affiliate institutions.
Ayelari said 494 had Second Class (Upper Division), 822

Class, 40 in the Pass category, 177 from unclassified
degrees and 48 diplomas.
He said the 53 first class graduates had become UI

of their studies up till their doctorate (PhD) degrees.
He however urged the graduands to be good
ambassadors of the institution wherever they find
themselves.
Responding on behalf of the graduands, Ejemenare
Daodu, from the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, said they
had come a long way but thanked God that they had
succeeded.
It would be recalled that the outgoing Vice Chancellor of
the institution, Professor Isaac Folorunsho Adewole is
now the country's minister of health.
Adewole's tenure expires on November 30th and will be
succeeded by Professor Idowu Olayinka who takes
over on 1st December.

Relationship Tips

Ladies, don’t you hate when you catch your man lying about
something, you KNEW he was lying about the entire time?
Big or small, its annoying as hell. Men don’t you hate when
your girlfriend doesn’t do anything but run her mouth,
complaining about every little thing, day in and day out? It
makes us fight, kick each other out, and act irrationally out
of frustration. I know I personally would always think of
ways to get revenge, to punish him for whatever he had
done to me. Tit for tat.
So I started thinking of different ways to get revenge,
cleverer ways; there was no, if you ignore me, I ignore you,
way too basic of an approach. No, you ignore me, I
disappear for three days, no warning. So I figured, why not
come up with a list of ways to punish your partner when
they mess up. I mean I did come up with some very unique
tactics. However, I realized I’d be wrong for passing along
advice that has never worked for me. Not one time.
Which brings me to my point of this post: there is absolutely
no right way to punish your partner. Want to know why?
Because they aren’t your child to punish, they are your
partner.
We all make mistakes, every single one of us, and if we
were punished every time we made a mistake, we’d be
miserable. Think about all the times you needed
forgiveness, and the comfort of being understood. Not
judged and punished, especially not by the person you’re
supposed to be in a relationship with.
Instead you all should be on the same page, and have a
specific way you all handle problems. Communicate about
what the consequences will be if you catch them lying, and
enforce it. If you don’t tolerate cheating, tell them that, and
leave when they cheat. If you’re the one who forgives their
cheater, then tell them you want them out of the house no
communication for two weeks or however long (if you feel
silly telling them you’ll take him back after cheating, you
should feel just as silly actually taking them back). If you all
have enough respect for each other to have this type of
conversation, you likely don’t even have to worry. A couple
with that level of understanding, and communication, will
also have enough sense to not run into issues like lies,
disrespect and infidelity.
Relationships are not a tit for tat type of thing. You aren’t
loving someone when you are trying to hurt them the same
way they hurt you. And you definitely aren’t helping your
relationship by punishing them like some child, trust me, I
know. If you can’t avoid those things, and instead insist on
punishing, or getting revenge, it’s only a matter of time,
before you realize the vicious cycle your relationship is in:
misbehave, punish, misbehave, punish. Instead, come to an
agreement of what you all expect from each other, and
agree on the acceptable way to handle problems.

Authorities move to increase Nigeria's Sugar Production

 Nigeria's sugar development
authorities say work is in progress to improve
availability of better sugarcane varieties in the country.
Speaking against the backdrop of the country's low
sugar production level, the authorities believe latest
move will boost the quality of its locally produced
sugar.
It worries that despite the existence of a sugar master
plan, ninety eight per cent of the country's sugar is
imported with only two per cent locally sourced.

Most Influential Teens' Zendaya, Malia Obama &Amandla stenberg

Zendaya, MaliaObama and AmandlaStenberg all made TIME's "30 Most Influential Teens of 2015" list.

To determine who made the list, TIME  considered their "accolades across numerous fields, global impact through social media and ability to drive news." Here's why these three ladies were selected:

On Zendaya, 19: "The former Disney Channel star (full name: Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman) has emerged as a champion of body positivity, schooling E!’s Giuliana Rancic earlier this year for mocking Zendaya’s dreadlocks at the Oscars and sharing unretouched versions of a magazine photoshoot with her 14.1 million Instagram followers. Recently, Mattel debuted a custom Barbie modeled after Zendaya’s Oscars look, meant to honor 'moment of confidence that was so positively received.' "
On Malia Obama, 17: "A full-fledged cultural icon, whose fashion choices and college visits (most recently, to Brown University) routinely make headlines. Earlier this year, for example, a leaked photo appeared to show Obama sporting a T-shirt with the logo for Brooklyn hip-hop collective Pro Era, driving record traffic to co-founder Joey Bada$’s Wikipedia page. Obama was spotted on the set of HBO’s Girls over the summer as part of an internship for creator Lena Dunham."
On Amandla Stenberg, 17: "The actress is best known as Rue from The Hunger Games series—a role that earned her an NAACP Image Award nomination and a Teen Choice Award—but she doesn’t just take part in pop culture, she actively critiques it. Stenberg is unafraid to call out celebrities she thinks are appropriating culture: in July she criticized Kylie Jenner—also on this list—for showing off her cornrows on Instagram but failing to use her 'position of power to help black Americans.' How To Stay Happy When Broke

Stop Worrying

Can you learn to live in the moment when your moments are constantly being interrupted by the nice folks at Visa reminding you that “minimum payment” doesn’t mean the minimum you feel like sending? It means that you better cough up the exact dollar figure they have printed inside that little box on your statement, or the next time you use your card, the mean miniature electronic man inside the gas pump will grab it and eat it.
I could go on and on about gas prices, food prices, layoffs, cutbacks and all the other reasons why people are struggling. Trust me, my husband and I own our business and we’ve had plenty of sleepless nights and fights about the checkbook ourselves.
But at a certain point, you can’t spend all your time worrying about money.
A minister friend of mine told me that she always disliked that story about the man who felt sorry for himself because he had no shoes, until he met a man who had no feet, because, as she said, “Meeting a man with no feet certainly puts the problem into perspective, but it doesn’t change the fact that you still don’t have any shoes.”
I think that’s where many of us are right now. We know that on the scale of human suffering, our personal financial woes rank pretty low.
There are millions around the world who are living with famine, disease and the ever-present knowledge that angry men with guns may storm their hut at any moment. And there are plenty of people in this country who are sick, hungry and homeless. But if you’re having to cash out your 401(k) to make your mortgage payments, or max out your credit cards to buy food, although you may be one of the lucky ones from a planetary perspective, you’re still going through a tough time.
So how do you keep financial problems from seeping into every other aspect of your life? And how do you get yourself fully present for the parts of your life that are joyful without constantly worrying about the parts that aren’t?
Experts say that if you want to quit thinking about something, the best way to do so is to start thinking about something else.
So here’s what works for me. I try to take as much action as I can during my waking hours. But when I find myself worrying about my bankbook or my business during a time when I can’t do anything about it, I try to remember:
This is the only time in my life that my kids will ever be this age. This is only time that I will ever have a 5th-grader who wants me to come have lunch with her or a 10th-grader who needs to be picked up from orchestra practice. This is the only time that I will ever have to enjoy my husband while he’s the age he is right now. And this is the only chance I’ll ever get to spend time with my parents while they’re still 65 and 72.
My life may get better; my life may get worse; but I will never have the chance to live this part of my life, ever, ever again.
And I’ll be doggone if I’m going to let worrying about money ruin it for me.

Kendrick Lamar and Ty Dolla $ign Made An L. A Anthem

Kendrick Lamar, Ty Dolla $ign, Brandy and James Fauntleroy have joined forces for an L.A. anthem. The song — aptly titled “LA” — is a hypnotic, melodic banger, but it also has its introspective moments. Perhaps the most powerful example of this can be found in Kendrick Lamar’s opening bars. “God, let me right my wrongs/ God, let me write this song,” he raps. “God, in the middle of the month, let me hit the pawn shop, mama said we need a loan/ God, let me dedicate this to the 80 percent that ain’t ever comin’ home/ God, let me know you exist in the city where a hundred hollow tips get thrown.” The song is also the intro to Ty’s upcoming Free T.C. project, which is set to drop Nov. 13, featuring appearances from Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Fetty Wap and R. Kelly.

HALLE BERRY DISCUSSES DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

With the news of Halle Berry's third divorce
breaking, the actress sat down with Extra to reveal
that focusing on charity work is helping to keep her
mind at ease.
"I keep pushing, she said. "When you step outside
yourself and focus on others, that's always the best
remedy for any situation that you'd rather not be
dealing with," she said.
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez File Dueling
Divorce Papers, Disagree Over Spousal Support
Berry was in Los Angeles attending a benefit for the
Jenese Center, a national domestic violence
intervention and prevention organization, a matter
that is all too familiar to her. The Academy Award-
winning actress has openly admitted to growing up
in an environment of domestic violence and, later in
life, being a victim herself.
While her exes, former baseball player David Justice
and R&B singer Eric Benet have recently been on
Twitter airing their dirty laundry since news of the
Berry's latest divorce, she isn't dwelling on their
pettiness.
"Women are so often devalued and marginalized
and minimized," she confessed. "We grow up with
that belief of ourselves. So when we find ourselves
in an abusive relationship, we don't think we're
worthy to be out of it. We don't think we deserve
better," Berry confessed.
But she reiterated a common notion to help women
who are in need of the strength to find a way out of
these relationships.
"If a man, or anyone, lays their hands on you one
time, they will do it again. You have to go, you have
to love yourself enough and your kids enough to
go."

Kanye' s Sneakers: Shoe Of The Year

KanyeWest's Adidas YeezyBoost sneakers have been named "Shoe of the Year" by Footwear News.
The rapper will take home the accolade on Dec. 2 at the 2015 Footwear News Achievement Awards, which is now in its 29th year.
“This year's Shoe of the Year honour recognises the insatiable demand for all things Yeezy,” wrote Footwear News. “The sneaker releases dominated the market in 2015 as demand for the product crashed servers, sparked extraordinary resale value and created a need for mob control in stores. From the moment Kanye West unveiled the 750 high-tops on the Grammys, his Adidas sneakers have been the most-coveted, most-talked-about, most-recognized shoes this year.
According to Refinery29, the Yeezy Boost 350, priced at $200, sold out in 12 minutes when it went on sale on June 27, with pairs going for up to $10,000 on eBay.

Guardiola: opening Goal key in Arsenal Thrashing

Bayern suffered a surprise 2-0 loss at Emirates Stadium in Group F two weeks ago and Guardiola felt the Bundesliga champions made an initially nervy start to the return fixture on Wednesday.

Robert Lewandowski's 10th-minute goal settled the hosts into an ominous rhythm and Thomas Muller made it 2-0 before the half hour.

Full-back David Alaba added a stunning third and laid on the fourth for substitute Arjen Robben, while Muller rounded off the scoring after Olivier Giroud netted a consolation for Arsenal

"We played a great first half," said Guardiola as Bayern stand on the brink of a place in the last 16.

"We lost some easy balls in the first 10 minutes, but we found it easier at 1-0 up and kept getting better with the fans behind us.

"It was hard because it is an opponent who plays good football. We are almost qualified for the next round and that's what counts The goalscoring feats of Lewandowski and Muller once again captured the imagination, but Guardiola was keen to highlight a superb performance from midfielder Thiago Alcantara.

The former Barcelona man set up the opening goal with a wonderfully flighted pass and continued to torment Arsenal throughout the 90 minutes.

"He's a big player and personality," Guardiola added. "He's very strong in the important games. He still has a lot to learn though."

King Fahd's(Late) wife of Saudi Arabia gets $23 million

The "secret wife" of the late KingFahd of SaudiArabia is set to receive a $23 million payout, according to the Associated Press.
Judge Peter Smith ordered that Harb, 68, receive two luxury apartments in London's affluent Chelsea neighborhood and be paid more than 15 million pounds ($23 million) that had been promised to her. He said her claim to the financial settlement was "credible."
Harb reportedly told the court that she secretly married the king in 1968 when he was still a prince. She claimed that she had been promised the financial settlement by Prince AbdulAziz, the son of one of the king's wives.
Aziz refused to testify in person and was held in contempt of court. Instead, he denied Harb's claims in written statements.

Children In Indonesia Forced To Wear Face Mask

Right now, Indonesia and other parts of South East Asia are covered in smog due to an out-of-control fire that's burning so intensely, its toxic smoke and devastation can be seen all the way from outer space. The main cause of this fire? Slash and burn farming techniques by the #PalmOil industry, which is destroying millions of acres of land (and in turn, the homes of humans and endangered animals alike.) You might not know it but you may have eaten palm oil (the root of this problem) today as it's an ingredient in many products we buy, including many brands of candy, pizza crust and most shampoos,  But don't despair, there are ways to produce palm oil without destroying the planet.

The Bad Blood Singer Sued Again

Taylor Swift just can’t seem to shake ’em off. She’s being sued again, this time for allegedly stealing the lyrics to her 2014 platinum mega-hit “Shake It Off.” R&B singer Jesse Braham, whose stage name is Jesse Graham, filed a $42 million lawsuit against Swift this week after accusing her of plagiarizing her lyrics from his song “Haters Gonna Hate.” Initially, all Braham wanted was a selfie — oh, and a writing credit on “Shake It Off.” But when his humble requests were denied, he filed suit. “At first I was going to let it go,” Braham told the New York Daily News, “but this song is my song all the way.” Braham claims there’s “no way” Swift came up with her song independently. The evidence is all right there.
Swift is no stranger to the courtroom, of course. She was dragged in front of a judge to defend using the phrase “Lucky 13″ on T-shirts and greeting cards after being slapped with an infringement suit by streetwear brand Lucky 13. She’s also been accused of ripping off a popular K-pop group with her “Bad Blood” video. And a Colorado DJ is suing her after he was fired for allegedly “grabbing her bottom” during a photo op. And she’s been on the other side of things, too. Her lawyers recently threatened Esty sellers using any of her dozens of trademarked phrases.

Justin Bieber : Sings About The Down Side Of fame In His New Track

Justin Bieber said his new album “Purpose” would be his most personal and honest yet, and with his new track, “I’ll Show You,” he definitely wasn’t joking. The song is RAW VULNERABLE  and highly EMOTIONAL  as Justin talks about the downsides 📉 of fame and what it’s like to have your every move 🏼 be judged. If you read deep into the lyrics of the track — a slow ballad with an electronic beat — provided by the song’s producer, Skrillex 👽, you can’t help but feel sorry for Justin as he struggles with making the right decisions, while growing up in the 🕳 limelight. This is the third song released off his upcoming album (Nov. 1️⃣⃣3️⃣and follows “What Do You Mean” and “Sorry.” 🤘

Nasarawa State To Publish Monthly Allocation To LGs

Al-Makura nasarawa
Following the dissolution of the local government councils Joint Account Committee (JAC) by the Nasarawa state government towards ensuring that each council gets exactly what accrues to it from the federation account, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has sactioned the monthly publication of federal allocation to the 13 local governments in the state.
Governor Al-Makura had last week stated that the dissolution of the JAC was to ensure proper distribution and allocation of revenue accruals in accordance with the distribution of the Federal Allocation Committee (FAC).
Financial statement released by the Nasarawa state government indicated that the 13 local government areas of the state got a total of N1,279,442,957.88.
The highest net allocation of N139, 658, 588.34 went to Lafia local council which is also the state capital, while the least allocation of N78, 648, 756.76 went to Keffi local government.
LEADERSHIP checks, however, revealed that what is worrisome remains the fact that only three local government areas of Keffi, Awe and Keana can pay their workers salaries as a little above N2 billion is needed to settle monthly salaries of local government workers in the state.
‘ he said. He, however, explained that the joint account operated by local governments had become problematic, hence the decision to abolish the JAC.This, the governor stated, was to find a lasting solution to reoccurring delay and shortfall in the salaries of local government workers.Al-makura added that the decision would also clear the air that the state government was using local government funds for other purposes.
