Former Adamawa Commissioner Facing charges For 10years Over corruption

Nigerian court jails former
Adamawa Commissioner
for 10 years
A Federal High Court sitting in Yola north central
Nigeria, has jailed the former Adamawa State
Commissioner of Finance and Local Government, John
Elias for 10 years over charges of corruption.
The conviction followed a corruption case instituted by
the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
against the one time commissioner of local government
and chieftaincy Affair.

The court also ordered him to refund 51million to the
Adamawa State local government joint account which
he diverted to his personal account through his
company named Al-Akim investment.
Al-Akim investment is owned by John Babani which the
Court said was used to divert the state resources.
Elisa still has 3 other pending cases bordering on
corruption filed against him at the Federal Court Yola by
the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. .
